About the Nephrops FMP Engagement Events
We want to gather views on current and future management of Nephrops fisheries in the North Sea and waters around the west coast of Scotland to support the development of Fisheries Management Plans (FMPs) for these areas.
The FMPs cover the UK portion of ICES areas 4 (North Sea) and 6 (West of Scotland) so we are keen to hear from all stakeholders with an interest in these fisheries.
We want to know what works and what does not work in current management approaches. We also want to hear what aspirations people have for the future of these important fisheries.
Influencing the future of Nephrops fisheries management
The Nephrops FMPs will change the way your fisheries are managed and will set the direction of travel for fisheries research and improvement over the next six years. This is a major step forward in UK fisheries management. It is important as many people as possible are involved in the work to ensure that different views, interests, and ambitions are captured.
Views gathered at the events will help us co-design fisheries management objectives for the North Sea and West Coast of Scotland Nephrops FMPs, which are due to be submitted to the Scottish Marine Directorate at the end of May 2024.
Event dates, times and locations
We are hosting a series of in-person events at harbours and ports in Scotland and Northeast England. We want to speak to anyone with an interest in Nephrops fisheries and their management.
Online events will also be held to gather feedback from stakeholders where attendance in person is not possible.
No prior registration is required to attend an in-person event, just come along. For online events please email fisheriesmanagementplans@seafish.co.uk to receive a link to the meeting.
Dates, times and venues are listed below. Further events will be released soon so keep an eye out for updates.
