RFVS Public Consultation

A 60-day public consultation on the draft standard criteria for the next iteration of the RFS, the Responsible Fishing Vessel Standard (RFVS), ran from Thursday 15 August to Monday 14 October 2019.

Informal feedback on the Standard continues to be accepted via email. Interested parties can use this form  or send a summary email to rfs@seafish.co.uk .

The RFVS is intended to be a globally applicable scheme to provide third party assurance of decent working conditions for the crew by demonstrating operational best practice from the catch to the quay, in line with internationally agreed protocols and guidelines.

The draft standard criteria were developed by Technical Working Groups composed of industry representatives, NGOs, associated standard holders and experts from all sectors of the fishing industry and seafood supply chain, from across the UK and internationally. Further information on the Standard development process being followed, including FAQs, is available on RFVS development webpage.

The public consultation was undertaken to maintain engagement and invite stakeholders that may be directly or indirectly affected by this standard to submit additional feedback for consideration. Feedback received will inform the development of the final draft of the Responsible Fishing Vessel Standard.

A synopsis of comments received will be released publicly to show acknowledgement and attribution – this document will be available on this webpage in due course.
