Development of an Aquaculture Strategy for England
Seafood 2040 (SF2040) is an England-only two-year programme facilitated by Seafish in partnership with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and seafood industry partners. The SF2040 Seafood Industry Leadership Group (SILG) via Seafish would like to appoint an experienced researcher, consultant or consortium to develop a realistic, action-oriented and forward-thinking English Aquaculture Strategy for the next 20 years, Government supported growth targets and a short, medium- and long-term delivery plan.
England currently lacks a published national aquaculture strategy. With the establishment of SF2040 and funds from the European Maritime Fisheries Fund, this strategy’s time has come as it will benefit from a strong Defra commitment and a raft of ongoing work in aquaculture that will support the development such as the government’s regulatory framework review. SILG are looking for a robust and realistic strategy as a result of research and stakeholder engagement that presents 20 year growth targets with a short-, medium- and long-term delivery plan and strikes the balance between high-level / big picture and practicality such as the inclusion of actionable targets.
The project timeframe is May – September 2020 for £24,950 (VAT inclusive).
Bids are due 4pm 17 April 2020.
