Summary
The Fish Processing Division of Stornoway Fishermen’s Co-operative operates from a factory building on Esplanade Quay that is leased from the council. Negotiations are currently in hand for the purchase of the factory by the Co-operative. Ground rent is payable to the Pier and Harbour Commission on whose ground the factory stands. The Fish Processing Divisions principal business is in Nephrops and Scallops, but with increasing trade in finfish. The Co-operative wish to expand their production capability and to make it more flexible and efficient to respond to raw material availability on a day to day basis, or to changes in market requirements (for products).
