Summary
Much work has been conducted by the Sea Fish Industry Authority into studying the potential of the currently under-exploited pilchard resources (Sardina pilchardus) present off the shores of south est England. Some twenty years ago the pilchard fishery formed the backbone of the economies of cornish fishing ports. today however, the pilchard is largely overlooked.
