Mallaig has become in recent years a port predominantly landing shellfish and white fish although the facilities evolved in times past to suit the herring trade. He available land is restricted and the harbour Authority are anxious to redevelop the port-area for the mutual benefit of all users including the Ro-Ro ferry to Skye.
