The European sea bass aquaculture industry has grown strongly since the early 1990s and represents one of the most important farmed species.



The most important producer countries are Turkey and Greece. Sea bass are cultured intensively, predominantly in net-pens in coastal waters of southern Europe, and 2018 production stood at 235,537 tonnes.
