GLOBALG.A.P. is a world leading farm assurance program, translating consumer requirements into Good Agricultural Practice worldwide.

The GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Standard sets criteria for legal compliance, food safety, animal and workers welfare, and environmental and ecological care. It covers the entire production chain, from broodstock, seedlings and feed suppliers to farming, harvesting and processing.

Social – GlobalG.A.P. GRASP stands for GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice – a voluntary ready-to-use add-on module developed to assess social practices on the farm (not just seafood).

Significance for seafood businesses:

Not seafood-specific but does cover aquaculture. Sourcing seafood that is accredited to a standard that has a social component provides reassurance that the seafood you are purchasing has been independently verified concerning social issues.

A MOU was signed between between GAA, GlobalG.A.P. and ASC which includes collaborative working on social responsibility in April 2013.
