SRA provides companies with the open-source tools, resources, and support they need to build socially responsible supply chains via data.

The initiative seeks to more broadly facilitate the collection of human and labour rights data to spark change in global supply chains and improve the lives of those impacted by human rights violations.

Assent Compliance, partners in the SRA, have also produced:

  • A whitepaper in May 2017: Regulatory Enforcement: A Case Study Review of Non-Compliance Risks. This provides an overview of non-compliance risks across several regulations along with real-life case studies, consequences and lessons learned including The California Transparency Supply Chains Act and Nestlé being taken to court due to forced labour in their supply chain.
  • Guide to the Expanding Ethical Sourcing Landscape. August 2017. This is a guide to the expanding ethical sourcing regulatory landscape which explains other materials that are currently, or anticipated to soon be, regulated due to the pervasiveness of human rights abuses associated with their sourcing.
  • Assent Compliance eBook: Budgeting for Compliance in 2018. In this eBook, you’ll learn about all the regulatory changes that occurred in 2017, and those that will impact your business in the coming year. This eBook describes how these changes may affect businesses.

Significance for seafood businesses:

Not seafood-specific. There are a number of organisations that offer practical business support to help manage socially responsible business practices. There are also various tools and guidance notes available which are free to use which will help buyers manage their supply chain and make a more informed judgement on the risks they face when sourcing seafood.
