Master Fishmonger Standard
Developed by the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers (The Fishmongers’ Company), the Master Fishmonger Standard celebrates skilled craftmanship, quality seafood and responsible and sustainable practices.
Recognising achievement across all levels, the Standard provides a system of nationally recognised grades which reflect levels of attainment within the fishmonger profession. By rewarding excellent practice across the trade, the Standard strives to encourage and enable a high standard of skill and the growth of knowledge about the seafood industry.

Masterclass videos
Fishmongers are skilled in the preparation of fish and shellfish. We haves 47 training videos on different aspects of fish and shellfish preparation. You can use the videos to help improve your skills. Please visit our YouTube channel to watch the videos.

The Seafood Guide is a 64-page comprehensive full colour publication that covers all the key aspects of seafood in the UK.
The Guide contents include where our fish and shellfish come from, information on the UK seafood industry, nutritional guidance and an authoritative section on species, availability and seasonality.

Remote knife skills
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we piloted the delivery of some remote knife skills coaching sessions.
These proved that people could learn how to develop their knife skills via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Remote knife skills coaching is available from Seafish approved trainers.
