Response to Consultation on Scotland’s National Marine Plan: Pre-Consultation Draft
Seafish welcomes several of the proposals in the draft plan, such as making sustainability a main aim and proposing to plan inshore and offshore areas together. However the draft contains several issues of concern. These include a disjoint between Marine Strategy Framework Directive and the Common Fisheries Policy; shellfish farming in the context of water quality; the intention to use the terrestrial model as a basis for marine planning; the absence of policy priorities; and the absence of temporal planning as a possible planning tool. -

United States of America Seafood Ethics Profile
Seafish commissioned a study to assess the ethical issues impacting on seafood species landed into, and imported to the UK from a wide range of countries. This United States profile looks at the main seafood products; seafood exports to UK; employment in seafood; human trafficking and forced labour indicators and rankings and research reports; ratification of international human rights and labour instruments; fisheries policy and management structure/administration; control of IUU fishing and related labour abuse; measures to protect migrant fishers; partnerships and improvement projects; and an overall assessment or criteria for overall risk assessment for the United States. -
Seafish response to Consultation on the operation of the Gangmasters Licensing (Exclusions) Regulations 2006
The Defra consultation is a second look at the Exclusions Regulations. Having received feedback on the 2006 Regulations, Defra feel that "some refinement may be necessary to widen the range of excluded circumstances".
